When each of my boys were in the 3rd grade, they got the opportunity to grow a cabbage plant. Each child in their class was given a cabbage plant to grow over their summer break. The child with the largest cabbage in each class got their picture and information sent to Bonnie Plants. The child with the largest cabbage in each state could receive a scholarship from Bonnie Plants. Since we live on a farm, my boys LOVED this project!!! We had so much fun planting and watching these huge cabbage plants grow. It became such a big event, that my uncles even got involved. I wanted to do something for my mom and my uncles for helping my boys, so, I made them each a little squash book with highlights of the cabbage growing process.
A squash book is a neat little handmade album that are great for gifts with or without pictures. They are really simple to make, once you get the hang of it, and they are quite inexpensive, compared to a full sized scrapbook.
